Truman State University has been awarded the CampusTours Four Star Tour Award for their wonderful new guided walking tour.
Truman State University's impressive new WalkingTour is narrated by a series of video guides that lead the visitor on a thorough exploration of the university, showcasing different aspects of the campus and community on each stop. The guide narratives are coupled with a coordinated slideshow of rich full-screen photographs showing the current tour stop and activities that students engage in at that location. The slideshows are really impressive, and help to paint a complete picture of Truman State University.
At the top of the tour, visitors find buttons to change the tour language, share their current tour via social Websites and request information. Truman State University's tour is offered in English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, with full video guides and foreign language text labels for the tour stops and interactive map. The foreign language tour guides are a nice touch, and will certainly help Truman State University as they look to expand their foreign student population. Schools are increasingly faced with prospective students whose primary language is not English, and providing suitable alternatives for this expanding population is becoming essential.
The Truman State University WalkingTour also includes panoramic images, videos and additional photographs on some stops, accessible through an Explore Media tab at the bottom of the tour. In the bottom left corner a small campus map tracks the visitor's progress around campus and can be used to access stops quickly, or the map can be expanded to replace the slideshow to give visitors a larger view of the campus.
The CampusTours Awards Committee found the new Truman State University WalkingTour to be an extremely engaging presentation, worthy of the CampusTours Four-Star Virtual Tour Award!
